Smettinn i samarbeid med Kunstbygda Balestrand inviterer ein kunstnar, student eller handarbeidar til eit 14 dagars opphald i Fjærland i november med stipend på 8000 kr. Residensen gir tid og rom til å arbeide konsentrert med eige prosjekt i eit roleg miljø tett på natur og lokal kunnskap.Fasilitetar
Kunstnaren bur i ei campinghytte på Bøyum Camping og får tilgang til Smettinn, ei løe med fleire vevstolar, arbeidsbord, vask, toalett og eit enkelt minikjøkken. Verkstaden er oppvarma og tilgjengeleg kvardager og helg.
Det finst ullgarn til sals på staden. Du står elles fritt til å ta med eller skaffe materialar til ditt eige prosjekt.
Om opphaldet
På Smettinn kjem lokale vevarar innom og arbeider med eigne prosjekt. Du får dermed høve til å treffe andre, samtidig som opphaldet i hovudsak gir rom for sjølvstendig arbeid.
Om du er interessert, kan Anne Britt dele kunnskap om smettvev. Smettvev er ein tradisjonell vevteknikk som står på raudlista for handverkstradisjonar.
Fjærland i november
November er ei svært roleg tid i Fjærland. Det er lite aktivitet og få forstyrringar, men ein lokal butikk gir tilgang til det viktigaste. Området byr på spektakulær natur og ro til fordjupande arbeid.

Vi ser etter deg som ønskjer å bruke opphaldet til å utforske eit eige arbeid, gjerne med utgangspunkt i vev, tekstil, materialitet, lokale tradisjonar eller smettvev.
Aktivitet i bygda
Vi ønskjer at opphaldet munner ut i eit lite lokalt arrangement. Det kan til dømes vere eit ope studio, ein kunstnarsamtale eller ein liten workshop. Forma finn vi ut av saman med deg. Vi har sett av eit lite budsjett.

Fjelly Kulturverkstad i samarbeid med Kunstbygda Balestrand inviterer musikarar til eit 14 dagars kunstnaropphald i Borgund med stipend på 8000 kr. Residensen gir tid og rom til å arbeide konsentrert med eige prosjekt i eit trivleg lokale tett på naturen.Fjelly Kulturverkstad er eit konsertlokale, øvingslokale og innspelingsstudio for musikk i Borgund, Lærdal.
Her vert ein eigen konsertserie driven av foreininga FK, leia av Tom Karlsrud og Matias Askvik, medan lydstudioet fungerer fast tilhaldsstad for Tom sine musikkprosjekt og lydopptak til ulike produksjonar. Både Tom og Matias er sjølve musikarar – Tom er mest kjend innan folke-/tradisjonsmusikk, medan Matias er mest kjend innan jazzmiljøet.
Fasilitetar
Kunstnaren bur på Fjelly og får tilgang til eit større rom med god akustikk for instrument, forsterkarutstyr og opptaksutstyr. Her finst òg piano, wifi og skrivar. Fjelly har kjøkken med det ein treng for å lage eigen mat, og bad med toalett og dusj. Bustaden har ikkje eige soverom, seng kan plasserast der det passar.
Om opphaldet
Dette er eit enkelt og uformelt opphald, og bustaden er ikkje på hotellstandard.
Kunstnaren arbeider i hovudsak sjølvstendig. Det kan vere mogleg med samarbeid med vertskapet delar av tida dersom det er aktuelt for prosjektet.
Kunstnaren må i utgangspunktet ta med eigne instrument. Det fins studio- og opptaksutstyr på Fjelly som kan nyttast under opphaldet.
Borgund i november
Oktober og november er ei roleg tid i Borgund. Det er lite urbane fasilitetar. På Steinklepp, om lag 5 km unna, finn du kafé og butikk.
Området gir høve til å bu og arbeide på Fjelly og bruke tida på eit eige musikalsk prosjekt.
Vi ser etter
Vi ser etter ein musikar, komponist eller låtskrivar som ønskjer å bruke opphaldet til å arbeide med eit eige prosjekt. Det kan til dømes vere låtskriving, komposisjon eller arbeid med innspeling.
Aktivitet i bygda
Vi ønskjer at opphaldet munner ut i eit lite lokalt arrangement. Det kan til dømes vere ei konsert, ope studio, ein kunstnarsamtale eller ein liten workshop. Forma finn vi ut av saman med deg. Vi har sett av eit lite budsjett.

Mellom fjord og fjell ligg Lærdal, ein historisk møtestad med eit særprega kulturmiljø. Her er natur, historie og lokalsamfunn tett på, og november byr på ro, mørke og skiftande lys. Lærdal Bibliotek og Sogn Kunstsenter i samarbeid med Kunstbygda Balestrand inviterer til eit 14 dagars oppdrag og kunstnaropphald med honorar på 45 000kr.Om oppdraget
Me søkjer ein illustratør, designar eller visuell kunstnar som skal utvikla motivet til eit stort, spesialvove golvteppe (ca. 3x6 meter) for den nye barneavdelinga i Lærdal bibliotek (Sjå illustrasjonar nederst).
Kunstnaren skal gjennomføra ein workshop med elevar på småtrinnet ved Lærdalsøyri skule. Med utgangspunkt i barna sine uttrykk og tankar om natur, kultur og historie i Lærdal skal kunstnaren utvikla eit samla motiv. Motivet skal produserast som teppe og bli ein stad for leik og undring i biblioteket.
Vertskapet vil være hjelpsame med å organisere samarbeidet med skulen. Du må ha med eige utstyr til arbeidet, men me kan bistå med eventuelt utstyr til workshopen.

Den samla økonomiske ramma er inntil 48 000 kroner, i tillegg til gratis opphald.
Kven kan søkje?
Profesjonelle illustratørar, designarar og visuelle kunstnarar med relevant erfaring innan illustrasjon, design eller mønsterutvikling. Erfaring med barn, medverknad eller kunst i offentlege rom er ein særleg fordel.
Kvar skal du bu?
Kunstnaren får disponere eit eige hus under heile residensperioden. Huset gir rom for både arbeid, kvile og fordjuping, med nærleik til naturen og lokalsamfunnet i Lærdal.
Kva forventar vi?
Kunstnaren skal planleggja og gjennomføra workshopen og utvikla eit ferdig motiv basert på barna sine bidrag. Motivet må kunne tilpassast dei tekniske krava til produksjonen av golvteppet.
Det er satt av egne midlar til produksjon av teppet som vil bli produsert av Almedahls. Motivet skal i hovudsak ferdigstillas i løpet av opphaldet.
Kven er vertskapet?
Lærdal bibliotek og Sogn kunstsenter er vertskap for residensen. Biblioteket er samlokalisert med Sogn kunstsenter og Besøkssenter villaks i Lærdal kulturhus. Her møtest kunst, litteratur, naturformidling og lokalt kulturliv under same tak.
Vi er ein tilsett som du som kunstnar vil ha kontakt med og som vil kunne vere tilstades og hjelpe til under workshopen. I hovudsak vil du jobbe sjølvstendig og ha friheit til å disponere di eiga tid. Om det er ynskjeleg kan vi hjelpe til med å arrangere eit besøk til ein av dei andre residensane som vil vere parallelt i Borgund, Fjærland og Luster.

Luster Mikromakeri inviterer til si fjerde kunstnarresidens, i samarbeid med Kunstbygda Balestrand.Luster Mikromakeri ligg i Luster ved Sognefjorden i Noreg. Det er ein ideell kulturorganisasjon og eit kreativt kollektiv som arbeider på tvers av eit breitt spekter av handverksdisiplinar og kunstnariske uttrykk. Residensen hos Luster Mikromakeri er frå 2.–15. november 2026. Reise, overnatting og atelier er dekte, i tillegg til eit kunstnarhonorar!
Residensen er ei moglegheit til å vidareutvikle praksisen din, eksperimentere med materiale og bli kjend med det lokale miljøet og lokalsamfunnet.
Vi ønskjer velkomen kunstnarar som er interesserte i ein konsentrert periode på to veker med utforsking, produksjon og utveksling innan tekstil, trearbeid, illustrasjon, papir eller keramikk.

Smettinn, in collaboration with Kunstbygda Balestrand, invites an artist, student, or craftsperson to a 14-day residency in Fjærland this November, accompanied by a stipend of NOK 8,000. The residency offers time and space to work with focus on one’s own project in a peaceful environment, close to nature and local knowledge.Fascilities
The artist stays in a camping cabin at Bøyum Camping and has access to Smettinn, a barn equipped with several looms, work tables, a sink, a toilet, and a simple kitchenette. The workshop is heated and accessible on both weekdays and weekends.
Wool yarn is available for purchase on-site. You are also free to bring or source materials for your own project.
About the residency
At Smettinn, local weavers drop by to work on their own projects. This gives you the opportunity to meet others, while the stay primarily allows for independent work. If you are interested, Anne Britt can share her knowledge of Smettvev (an inlay weaving technique). Smettvev is a traditional weaving technique included on the Red List of endangered craft traditions.
Fjærland in November
November is a very quiet time in Fjærland. There is little activity and few distractions, yet a local shop provides access to essentials. The area offers spectacular scenery and the tranquility needed for deep, focused work.
We are looking for
We are looking for someone who wishes to use the residency to explore their own work, ideally connected to weaving, textiles, materiality, local traditions, or smettvev (inlay weaving).
Activity in the village
We would like the residency to culminate in a small local event. This could be, for example, an open studio, an artist talk, or a small workshop. We will determine the format together with you. We have set aside a small budget for this.

Fjelly Kulturverkstad, in collaboration with Kunstbygda Balestrand, invites musicians to a 14-day artist residency in Borgund, featuring an 8,000 NOK stipend. The residency offers time and space to work intensively on one's own project in a pleasant setting close to nature.Fjelly Kulturverkstad is a music venue, rehearsal space, and recording studio located in Borgund, Lærdal.
The association FK (led by Tom Karlsrud and Matias Askvik) runs a dedicated concert series here, while the recording studio serves as a permanent base for Tom’s music projects and audio recordings for various productions. Both Tom and Matias are musicians themselves; Tom is best known in the folk and traditional music scene, while Matias is best known within the jazz community. Bathroom with toilet and shower. The unit does not have a separate bedroom; a bed can be placed wherever convenient.
Facilities
The artist stays at Fjelly and has access to a spacious room with good acoustics for instruments, amplification equipment, and recording gear. A piano, Wi-Fi, and a printer are also available. Fjelly features a kitchen equipped for self-catering, as well as a bathroom with a toilet and shower. The accommodation does not have a separate bedroom; the bed can be placed wherever is most convenient.
About the residency
This is a simple and informal residency, and the accommodation is not of hotel standard. The artist works primarily independently. Collaboration with the hosts for part of the time may be possible if relevant to the project.
In principle, the artist must bring their own instruments. Studio and recording equipment is available at Fjelly for use during the residency.
Borgund in November
November is a quiet time in Borgund. There are few urban facilities. At Steinklepp, about 5 km away, you will find a cafe and a shop. The area gives you the opportunity to live and work on Fjelly and spend your time on your own musical project.

Nestled between fjord and mountains lies Lærdal, a historic meeting place with a distinctive cultural setting. Here, nature, history, and the local community are close at hand, and November offers tranquility, darkness, and shifting light. Lærdal Library and Sogn Art Centre, in collaboration with the art village of Balestrand, invite applications for a 14-day residency and project, featuring an honorarium of NOK 45,000.About the assignment
We are seeking an illustrator, designer, or visual artist to develop the design for a large, custom-woven rug (approx. 3x6 meters) for the new children's section of Lærdal Library (see illustrations below).
The artist will conduct a workshop with lower primary school pupils at Lærdalsøyri School. Drawing on the children’s own expressions and thoughts regarding the nature, culture, and history of Lærdal, the artist will develop a unified design. This design will be produced as a rug, creating a space for play and wonder in the library.
The hosts will assist in organizing the collaboration with the school. You must bring your own equipment for the work, but we can provide any necessary equipment for the workshop.
What can we offer?
Free accommodation in a private house in Lærdalsøyri;
travel allowance of up to NOK 3,000;
a fee of NOK 11,000 for a one-day workshop;
a fee of NOK 34,000 for the finished design.
The total financial framework is up to NOK 48,000, in addition to paid accommodation.
Who can apply?
Professional illustrators, designers, and visual artists with relevant experience in illustration, design, or pattern development. Experience working with children, participatory processes, or art in public spaces is a particular advantage.
Where will you live?
The artist has exclusive use of a house throughout the residency period. The house provides space for work, rest, and deep engagement, with close proximity to nature and the local community in Lærdal.
What do we expect?
The artist is responsible for planning and conducting the workshop and developing a finished design based on the children's contributions. The design must be adaptable to the technical requirements for the rug's production.
Separate funds have been allocated for the production of the rug, which will be manufactured by Almedahls. The design is to be largely finalized during the residency.
Who is the host?
Lærdal Library and Sogn Art Centre are hosting the residency. The library shares premises with the Sogn Art Centre and the Wild Salmon Visitor Centre within the Lærdal Cultural Centre. Here, art, literature, nature education, and local cultural life come together under one roof.
A staff member will serve as your point of contact and be available to assist during the workshop. You will primarily work independently and have the freedom to manage your own time. If desired, we can help arrange a visit to one of the other residencies taking place concurrently in Borgund, Fjærland, and Luster.

Please submit a brief application including an introduction, a statement of motivation, your CV, and examples of relevant work. We would also appreciate your thoughts on how you envision conducting the workshop and further developing the children's contributions into a unified design.

Luster Mikromakeri invites applications for its fourth artist residency, in collaboration with Kunstbygda Balestrand.Luster Mikromakeri is located in Luster, by the Sognefjord in Norway. It is a non-profit cultural organization and a creative collective working across a wide range of craft disciplines and artistic expressions. The upper floor houses several studios and personal workspaces that are in daily use. Read more on their website.
The residency at Luster Mikromakeri takes place from November 2–15, 2026. Travel, accommodation, and studio space are covered, in addition to an artist fee!
The residency offers an opportunity to further develop your practice, experiment with materials, and get to know the local creative scene and community.
